Ohana no gisei (Le Sacrifice des fleurs) (The Sacrifice of the flowers) is a series of drawings, a potentially infinite series of drawings, where the drawings generate the dances and the dances inspire the drawings.

The fragility of the living: watching the flowers blossom, open, bloom, wilt, dry out and disintegrate.

Fragilité du vivant. Regarder les fleurs éclore, s’ouvrir, s’épanouir, flétrir, se dessécher, se disloquer.

Intentions

This process of observation drives this series of drawings in which the movement begins from high up and goes toward the floor, this is a leitmotif. The movement is suggested by the flower as it wilts: it is decomposing and returning to the Earth. This descent, this fall, is what the dance explores, the relationship between the verticality and the horizontality of the living drives multiple improvisations. Standing up, finding again the contact with the Earth; to celebrate this life energy, death, the cycle underlying it all.
